Amelia Hedemark - Owner, Groomer, Dog Lover
In 2013, I got my first poodle, Teddy. Despite my socialization efforts, he had severe fear surrounding grooming and strangers. To ensure he had positive experiences, I rapidly started teaching myself to groom dogs. This bought me time, but as my interest in show dogs and grooming grew, I sought additional training.
I began as an apprentice under a professional dog show handler. I brought home a miniature schnauzer, Otto, as a show prospect and for years I spent my weekends at dog shows. I travelled all around the country working for handlers and showing Otto. He eventually broke the breed record for Owner-Handler points (with over 10 OH best in shows) and was ranked amongst the top 20 miniature schnauzers in the United States. I was also top ranked amongst junior handlers at that time.
These experiences have built an excellent, and unique, foundation for my grooming skills. I understand canine structure and how to curate a trim to highlight a dog's best attributes. I tend to stylize trims by hand scissoring and leaving fuller coat. I am able to handstrip and card coat. Even more, I feel confident working with many fearful or aggressive dogs.
Giving dogs a positive experience and making them look their best is what I love to do. If you have any questions, I am always happy to chat. I hope to see you and your dog soon!

Trimming
Includes: bath, blow dry, nail trimming, ear cleaning, sanitary shave, and light trimming (such as paws, ears, booty, tail, and belly)

Full Grooming
Includes: bath, blow dry, nail trimming, ear cleaning, sanitary shave, and full body grooming to the desired length/style
Best for: poodles, doodles, shih tzus, schnauzers, old english sheepdogs, and more
Maintenance
Customized maintenance plan for your dog. This can include hand-stripping, coat growth, hand scissoring, and more.
Best for: show dogs, dogs maintaining 3"+ of hair, and preserving the breed standard look
What makes us different
The following are bonus services and features included, for free, with every groom I offer. Many groomers charge extra for these as add-on services, but here every dog deserves the best.
Blueberry Facial
Blueberry facials are eye-safe, whitening (and brightening for dogs of other colors), and deeply cleansing. It comes with a facial massage. I've found that even dogs that don't enjoy baths or having their faces touched seem to like the blueberry facial.
Nail Grinding
Many dogs prefer nail grinding because it decreases the risk of bleeding and doesn't make a startling "snap" noise like nail clippers do. Owners prefer it because the nails can get shorter and smoother when compared to clipping. Nail grinding is done for any dog that will allow it!
Fragrance
I have a great assortment of dog-safe scents that last for days! Most of our scents are generally clean-smelling, such as "fresh linen," but some scents are seasonal, such as "cinnamon cookie." Not your thing? Owners can request not to have fragrance.
Hearing Protection
Force dryers can be loud and intimidating for some dogs. To lessen this anxiety, and the potential for hearing loss, all dogs get the opportunity to wear hearing protection. Most dogs love it (plus it makes for silly pictures)!
One-on-One
No kennels here! That means no waiting all day, no kennel drying. This makes the process more sanitary, and less stressful. When your dog is with me, they have my full attention. If you have multiple dogs then one of your dogs will be in a pen next to me while I work on your other dog.
Home-based
I groom out of my home. Most dogs find this environment much more comfortable. There are no overwhelming smells, the room isn't full of barking dogs, and they are the only dog getting groomed. We listen to chill music and take it slow!
